The Museum of Craft Oddity
Call for Entries
The Museum of Craft Oddity is currently seeking submissions to exhibit in the categories of "Cosies" and "Potholders."
"Cosies" are defined as covers for objects, such as, but not limited to: eggs, teapots, hot water bottles, booze, and toilet paper.
"Potholders" are defined as those imminently handy items useful in the kitchen used to grasp hot items or place hot dishes upon.
In the long history of handcrafted household goods, "Cosies" and "Potholders" are often maligned as mere second-rate decoration. Witness the sarcasm generally reserved for the handmade Poodle in some of its many incarnations:
We seek to present a broad range of historical "Cosies" and "Potholders" that truly exhibit the love and spirit or crafty grandmothers and busy church bazaars.
Submissions should consist of the following:
Photocopy of Source Historical Pattern(s)
Your handmade rendition(s) of said pattern
Multiples in the case that you wish to sell your creation (of the proceeds, 25% will be donated to the Museum to further its research into the handcrafts of history.)
Attached form filled out completely.
Attach a tag with string to your item with your name and pattern title.
SASE to return your specimen.
Entries are due Dec. 1 st , 2004. The exhibit will be held at the Craft Compound Xmas Bazaar the second weekend of December in Los Angeles, CA.
